Concealed Carry Class Instructor Sued Over Not Meeting Illinois Standards
From the 3/2/55 Mass. Academy of Trial Attorneys e-journal, a sober warning:
“A gun user in Illinois has sued a woman who offered concealed handgun training, alleging the classes did not meet state standards and that the state would not recognize the certifications she issued. Lucinda Klotz is seeking class action certification in her lawsuit against Terry Lumma on behalf of about 200 people who paid about $120 each to take the courses. The suit seeks damages in excess of $50,000 from Lumma, who pleaded guilty in January to criminal charges of issuing false certifications.”
Illinois requires 16 hours of training for a concealed handgun license. The instructor was charged with felony forgery and misdemeanor false documentation. She pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge. People taking - and GIVING - those cheap, short-cut classes take notice.
