"Dangerous Dogs"

I was one of three presenters from the Animal Law Committee at this year's RI Bar Association annual meeting. My subject was "dangerous dogs."

RI has specific criteria for determining what a "dangerous dog" is, how that determination can be made, and the responsibilities and consequences of having one. If you have such a dog, or are accused of owning one, you need to be familiar with them.

Remember the phrase, "a short leash?" How short is "short?"

In RI, it's three feet - one yard. And that chain has to have a 300-pound tensile strength, with the owner on the other end.
